The Norwegian version of The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (NWT) by Jehovah’s Witnesses wants to be «accurate», literal and precise, and in many respects it really is. A number of dogmatic concerns, however, break with such principles, often based on an anti-trinitarian understanding. The present article finds valuable qualities alongside several linguistic inconsistencies. NWT downplays the stylistic aspects of the Bible, sometimes reminding more of a manual of instruction than a masterpiece of literature.

During History of Theology the Biblical teaching of God’s love has not always been connected with the Christian dogma of God’s Trinity. Regretably, God’s love has quite often been perceived as a quality within God, comprehended as a transcendent subject in some metaphysical-philosophical sense, independent of the Trinitarian dogma. Consequently, this dogma has been estimated as an unessential and peripheral part of Christian dogmatics. This article draws an intimate and undissolvable connection between God’s love and God’s Trinity. This connection is being drawn by a systematic-theological exposition of a central point in the theology of Wolfhart Pannenberg. As one of the leading theologians of our time he renews and unfolds the Biblical teaching that God is love just as, and only as, the Triune God.

The article gives a broad presentation of the historical background and current status of psychology of religion as a sub-discipline within the broader field of psychology. Dominating theoretical traditions and epistemological presuppositions in psychology of religion are described. The author also comments on selected topics and results in current research, and shows how different methodological strategies are used in this research. The overall picture shows a vital, diverse, interdisciplinary field of research with an increasing number of active scholars and scientific publications.
