Although the UK and Denmark have structurally similar systems, there are also some fundamental and crucial differences that reflect a difference in political philosophy. An exploration of this difference, and how European harmonisation may be an attempt to eliminate it, should lead us to a consideration of a more democratic European healthcare future: one that combines objective public information with localised control (or what I call „informed accountability“).
