Malnutrition is a common problem among apoplexia cerebri patients in Danish hospitals. In spite of procedures regarding sufficient nutrition, statistics show an increasing problem. The nature of nursing is determined by the scientific position of the nurse. This article advises nurses to widen their scientific horizon and to use human ecology as well as formalized procedures as a guide for nursing. Human ecology is based on the best knowledge from social, humanistic, and natural science with relevance to each unique situation.
