The project was initiated and partly supported by Save the Children (Norway) with the aim of providing a research-based and indicator-driven perspective on compliance by Norway with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The initiative has received additional support from the Nordic Branding: Politics of Exceptionalism project (University of Oslo) and the Centre for Law and Transformation (CMI and University of Bergen). Chapters 1 and 3 also benefited from funding from the Research Council of Norway under the Independent Projects – Humanities and Social science program (grant no. 262773), and the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement no. 724460).

The editors would particularly like to thank the anonymous reviewer and staff at Save the Children for reviewing the chapters in this book and for the comments by authors on different chapters – it has enriched the analysis considerably. We would particularly like to thank Sanne Hoffman for catalysing the project, Thale Skybak, Stina Eiet Hamberg and Sara Eline Grønvold, Inger Aasgaard and Tori Loven Kirkebø for ensuring its implementation, and Per Robstad, Maria Westervoll and Yngve Nordgård at Universitetsforlaget for seeing through the production of the volume.
