for at tobak forbrændes.
dvs. underminere rygestop. Potentielle helbredsgevinster ved skift fra almindelige
cigaretter til e-cigaretter forsvinder ved samtidig rygning.
The e-cigarette is a product in which a nicotine-containing liquid is heated
electronically, instead of burning tobacco. There are many studies on health effects, but
there is a lack of evidence on long-term effects. Studies in which the authors do not have
a conflict of interest almost always indicate/find health damage. Many negative oral
effects to using e-cigarettes have been found. Dentists have an important role to play in
identifying e-cigarette use and increasing the awareness of the harmful effects of
e-cigarettes. Smokers who seek oral health should stop smoking altogether, not switch to
e-cigarettes. The evidence also points to health damage to, among other things, the lungs
and the cardiovascular system. Increasing use of e-cigarettes by children and adolescents
(in some countries) is worrying, and there is sufficient evidence to conclude that
e-cigarette use increases the risk of taking up regular cigarettes. No e-cigarettes are
approved as a smoking cessation method, and population-based studies indicate that they
may have the opposite effect, i.e. undermine smoking cessation. Potential health benefits
of switching from regular cigarettes to e-cigarettes disappear with simultaneous
smoking.
