The journal was established in 1977 with the title Women’s Studies and then changed to Tidsskrift for kjønnsforskning in 2005.
The journal publishes articles, comments, debate contributions and book reviews, both as subject issues and as open issues. The journal’s main section is referee-based.
It is read by researchers, teachers and students within all fields in which a gender perspective is a part, in addition to policymakers and others with an interest in issues that concern gender and gender equality in various parts of society.
Tidsskrift for kjønnsforskning is published by KILDEN – the Information Centre for Gender Research in Norway – in collaboration with Universitetsforlaget and with economic support from The Research Council of Norway.
The journal is issued quarterly.
