Abstract
Up front in the demonstration – becoming an activist in the social movement «Ungdomshusbevægelsen»This article is a result of an anthropological research among participants in a social movement –Ungdomshusbevægelsen – in Copenhagen. The social movement developed after a squat used mainly by youngsters was evicted by the police and the anti-terror corps in March 2007. The aim of this article is to demonstrate how a person is developing a political identity by taking part in a social movements’ social and political activities. The article is showing how framing of events and the use of narratives by the participants in a social movement can turn peripheral participants into engaged activists.
